Having a daily house cleaning schedule can lead to tidy living.

A Cleaning Schedule Can Create Routine
Success is found in routine for most people, and things can feel manageable with it. A daily house cleaning schedule can help turn the conscious effort of cleaning your home into a simple routine that takes little effort and thought. According to the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine , when presented with a choice, individuals typically pick the easiest, quickest, and most enjoyable option. Most of us can recognize that cleaning the house does not normally fall into this category. So if we’re presented with the choice to watch TV or do the dishes, we’re hardwired to pick the television.
The good news, however, is that there is a way around this dilemma. According to the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine, the trick is to plan out decisions prior to being faced with them. Planning ahead of time, removes the moment of decision from the individual’s day.
Start With A Simple Cleaning Schedule
Build your routine one chore at a time. It seems counterintuitive; you want a clean house, so clean everything, right? No. You want a long-term lifestyle of being a clean person. This means turning every chore into a routine. Once it’s routine, it will be easy and won’t require conscious effort or thought. However, according to the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine, routines take time to establish. Adding too many changes to a day will likely be difficult to sustain and may result in “behavior relapse.” Too much change too fast is much less likely to work.
